بررسی ارتباط بین شاخص توده بدنی با پوسیدگی‌های وسیع دندانی کودکان ۵-۳ ساله مهدکودک های شهر رشت، ایران |

مقدمه: پوسیدگی دندان به عنوان شایع ترین بیماری های دوران کودکی است که می تواند باعث درد و دشواری در غذا خوردن شود. هدف از این مطالعه تعیین ارتباط بین شاخص توده بدنی و پوسیدگی های وسیع دندانی در در میان کودکان مهد کودک های شهر رشت، ایران می باشد. مواد و روش ها: این مطالعه توصیفی- تحلیلی از نوع مقطعی بر روی 402 کودک با میانگین رنج سنی 3 تا 5 ساله که به طور تصادفی از مهد کودک های رشت انتخاب شدند، انجام شد. همه اندازه گیری ها آنتروپومتریک و معاینات دندانپزشکی هر کودک توسط یک معاینه کننده آموزش دیده انجام شد. داده های بدست آمده با استفاده از نرم افزار SPSS (نسخه 19) آنالیز شدند و شاخص نمره Z تعیین شد. آزمون آماری Monte carlo جهت بررسی رابطه بین پوسیدگی دندانی و شاخص های رشدی مورد استفاده قرار گرفت. آزمون Chi-squared برای بررسی همبستگی بین پوسیدگی دندانی و سایر فاکتور ها استفاده شد و مقدار P value< 0.05 به عنوان سطح معنادار در نظر گرفته شد. یافته ها: در این مطالعه 5/43درصد کودکان دچار پوسیدگی دندان بودند. بین پوسیدگی دندان BMI به سن ، وزن به سن و وزن به قد ارتباط معنی داری وجود داشت(P=0.02, P=0.004 and P=0.017) کودکان کم وزن تجربه پوسیدگی دندان بیشتری داشتند. همچنین یک ارتباط معناداری بین پوسیدگی دندان و سطح تحصیلات والدین وجود داشت. نتیجه گیری: طبق یافته ها، کودکان کم وزن تجربه پوسیدگی دندانی بالاتری داشتند، بنابراین ممکن است بین BMI پایین و تجربه پوسیدگی در کودکان ارتباط وجود داشته باشد. |

Introduction: Dental caries as the most common childhood disease can cause pain and difficulty eating. The aim of this study was to determine the association between gross dental caries and body mass index (BMI) among children attending kindergartens in Rasht, Iran. Materials & Methods: A descriptive-analytical cross-sectional study was carried out on 402 3- to-5-year-old children who were randomly selected from kindergartens of Rasht, Iran. All dental exams and anthropometric measurements for each child were performed by a trained examiner. The obtained data were analyzed using SPSS 19, and the Z-score index was determined. The Monte Carlo statistical method was applied to compare the relationship between dental caries and BMI. Moreover, the relationship between dental caries and other factors was evaluated using a Chi-square test and P< 0.05 was considered significant. Results: In this study, 43.5% of children had dental caries. Based on the results, a significant relationship was observed between dental caries and BMI-for-age, weight-for-age and weight-for-height indices (P=0.02, P=0.004 and P=0.017). The underweight children had higher dental caries experience. Moreover, a significant relationship was found between dental caries and parents' education level. Conclusion: According to the findings, the underweight children had higher dental caries experience so there may be an association between low BMI and caries experience in children. |
